We just used the steam steriliser that came in a tommee tippee bundle with 8 bottles and a bottle warmer. It worked perfectly well for the year we used it, and it's currently up in the loft for (fingers crossed) the next baby. We still use the bottle warmer to warm up cow's milk for my toddler. Well worth the money.
Used for a full year, "worked perfectly well" and "well worth the money." Kept it for next baby — strong long-term endorsement.
We've got the Tommee Tippee steridryer, it's been great, 5 min steam cycle and 30 mins dry cycle. We also have the TT perfect prep day and night machine, v convenient to have for those early hours formula feeds. Both of these we picked up second hand, gave a good clean and recommend both. Defo recommend the MAM bottles also - these we picked up new from prime day sales.
"It's been great" — specific cycle times (5 min steam, 30 min dry). Recommends to others. Bought second hand and still works well.
Nah, that's just BS. My midwife & helath visitor backed up the below. We used the tommee tippee steamer steriliser for the first 4 weeks. We could do 4 bottles at once and then either: Took one out and left the rest in. The instructions say that if left in the steriliser with the lid on they are ok for 24 hrs. Given that there's air holes in the kid, that shows that some air is fine. Or, took them all out, made then up with all the kids on and left them for 24 hours. Still fine as the key part
Used TT steam steriliser for 4 weeks doing 4 bottles at once. Midwife-endorsed approach. Describes two practical workflows for bottle storage.
I use the tommee tippee steriliser and find it to be very little effort. It does take up space. I have never even thought to worry about drying bottles, once they're sterilised they are dry enough I find.
"Very little effort" but notes counter space as a downside. Positive overall with minor caveat.
I use the tommee tippee electric steriliser. Sterilises 6 bottles and we use the anti colic bottles. I personally think it was worth the money, i picked it up for about £30. It's cycle takes 5 minutes and needs descaling every 2 weeks on average
Specific details: 6-bottle capacity, £30 price, 5-min cycle. Notes descaling every 2 weeks as maintenance requirement. Worth the money overall.
While I think this is technically correct, I don't think doing one bottle at a time is in anyway a realistic way to live with a baby. My girl has just finished with bottles as she's just turned one. We always did 3 or 4 at a time in the Tommee Tippee steriliser. If they're not sterile as soon as they make contact with the air, then by the time the first bottle has made it to your baby's mouth it's already not sterile. Still super clean and safe though.
Used TT steriliser for a full year doing 3-4 bottles at a time. Practical positive endorsement, though the praise is moderate rather than enthusiastic.
I have a steam steriliser, never been an issue with the humidity in the kitchen - it's only 100ml of water and only takes a few minutes. The counter space it takes up is a bigger deal! Microwave will have the same issue with steam because it's still steam sterilising, just in the microwave over a standalone device
Owns a steam steriliser, no humidity issues, only takes a few minutes. Counter space is the main downside. Positive but measured.
I got the tommee tippee sterilizer. Not impressed with it for the price. Needs descaled and washed all the time, it doesn't really fit their bigger bottles, pain in the ass to travel with (although we used it like a little suitcase lol.) The microwave steam bags are good for on the go/ in hospital but not practical for everyday use if your expressing/bottle feeding. I've only seen them in Asda. I've used Milton and Tesco sterilizing tablets and liquids but I've heard it's not good for babies
"Not impressed for the price." Multiple specific complaints: constant descaling, doesn't fit bigger bottles, bad for travel. Direct owner experience.
Get a plastic generic dish type one you put in the microwave. I know so many people (myself included!) who got the tommee tippee plug in one and found they broke after a few months.
Direct experience: TT electric steriliser "broke after a few months." Reports multiple people with same issue. Switched away to microwave method.
UV steriliser. We have a Minbie one. We had the Tommee Tippee, steri-dryer and super steam as the first two but they both had problems like the plate burning or leaks so we returned them. Never had problems with the UV steriliser.
Owned both the TT Steri-dryer and Super Steam — returned both due to plate burning and leaks. Specific defects cited.
