We got the mam starter set, 6 bottles and microwave steriliser. It was very handy as hotels etc have no problem popping it in the microwave for 11 minutes. Anywhere we've stayed had no problem doing it anyway, or you can do a few bottles as you need them. I got one of [these](https://www.amazon.co.uk/Bottle-Removable-Drying-Bottles-Accessories/dp/B07R661HD4/ref=mp_s_a_1_2_sspa?adgrpid=52855108053&dib=eyJ2IjoiMSJ9.UZacVotlecWowQhXGpB9CJmsfqiOsF39mO-zAw8X83WWoRE9ptXYEi05cb58XgQHkMRFe2Fp2Z4OpdE5AOV
Got the MAM starter set with 6 bottles. "Very handy" -- highlights travel-friendliness (hotels accommodate microwave sterilising). Direct experience with the MAM microwave sterilising system.
The MAM bottles are self sterilising, really handy. And I've Milton tablets and a spare washing up bowl for anything else. First two I used one of the tommee tipee sterilisers and everything you took off the lid it's would be like a waterfall 😅
"Really handy" — third-time parent who switched to MAM from TT steriliser. Specific comparison: TT created condensation waterfall, MAM avoids this.
I use the Mam bottles because you can sterilise them in the microwave just in 3 minutes Saves getting a steriliser and it means you can sterilise them near enough anywhere
Current user. Key benefits: 3-minute microwave sterilise, no need for separate steriliser, portable ("near enough anywhere").
We had the tommee tippee sterilisers, but then switched to the MAM bottles and it was so much easier and convenient. I did need to sterilise my breast pump parts and bought microwaveable steriliser bags that are just more convenient in terms of storage than having a steriliser taking up permanent space on our kitchen counter.
Switched from TT steriliser to MAM bottles — "so much easier and convenient." Freed up counter space. Direct comparison favoring MAM.
I'd buy a couple of bottles, but I'd skip the steriliser and extra stuff until you know where you're at. Mam bottles can be broken apart and steam sterilised in the microwave, which is super handy for minimising extra kit. You can also do cold sterilising with Milton tabs, and it's just as easy. We ended up exclusively formula feeding as I couldn't breastfeed due to earlier surgeries... We only got the steriliser and extra bottles once we knew. The bottles could come in handy if your partner wa
"Super handy for minimising extra kit" — praises the self-sterilising feature as a way to avoid buying a separate steriliser. Direct experience with formula feeding.
During my pregnancy I got three free mam bottles from the boots parenting club, and I was glad I did because my baby was born a month early and struggled breastfeeding. You can sterilise them in the microwave. When we got home we were bottle feeding expressed milk for a while, so we just ordered some more bottles online that also self sterilise in the microwave (tommee tippee ones). I think I got lucky that my baby doesnt seem too fussy about bottles or anything. I had packed some ready made f
Got MAM bottles free from Boots, used the self-sterilising feature for expressed milk with a premature baby. "Glad I did" -- the self-sterilising was useful in an unplanned bottle-feeding situation.
The mam bottles can be sterilised on their own in the microwave. We just hand wash ours and then bob it in the microwave for 3 minutes. We do only use 4 bottles a day though
Current user describing daily workflow: hand wash then 3 minutes in microwave. Uses 4 bottles a day. Simple, positive, from direct experience.
Mam bottles are self sterilising in the microwave, are you talking about buying a second steriliser? I used mam and also just had a Milton cold water steriliser which was really good. Never looked into the uv ones tho
Used MAM self-sterilising bottles directly. Highlights the self-sterilising feature as sufficient, paired with Milton for other items.
I mainly breastfed. We used the Mam bottles on occasion that you sterilise in the microwave and I sterilised the pump parts in the microwave bag that came with it. Other than that I don't think we did much beyond the normal keeping shit clean.
Used MAM self-sterilising bottles for occasional use while breastfeeding. Minimal kit needed — bottles + microwave bag covered everything.
My baby is 6m, for the first 3 months we sterilised in the microwave (MAM bottles), then when traveling we used Milton and never looked back. We take them out of the solution and put on a bottle drying "tree"/rack. Then once dry I build them back up, never had any issues. Not saying you need to do this, I totally understand there is so much information out there and in my experience lots of the recommended things seem very difficult/time consuming.
Used MAM self-sterilising for the first 3 months then switched to Milton and "never looked back." The MAM method worked but they preferred Milton -- neutral-to-slightly-negative for MAM.
I find sterilising the Mam bottles themselves in the microwave a bit finicky, I do it while travelling but at home for handiness I have the Mam microwave steriliser. I can do four big bottles in one go with it so works well for us. I originally had the Tommee Tippee but it couldn't fit enough Mam bottles in once we were at the largest size
Finds individual MAM self-sterilising "a bit finicky" — uses it only while travelling. Prefers the MAM microwave steriliser unit at home for multiple bottles.
We use Milton tablets with no issue, just throw everything in a bucket through the day. We also have the Mam self-sterilising bottles that you can do in the microwave. Three minutes for one bottle, plus a minute for each additional. It works, but I don't like as much because the bottles are super hot and a literal pain to retrieve!
Uses MAM self-sterilising bottles. Specific detail: 3 min for one, +1 min per additional. But "don't like as much" because bottles are "super hot and a literal pain to retrieve."
I have the Dr. Browns one and love it. It sterilises and dries which is essential in my opinion. I also use the Mam bottles and while the self sterilising part is cool I've nearly burnt myself countless times doing them in the microwave. I breastfed for a while but still needed the steriliser for the pump and soothers etc. Again the drying part for the pump was essential if pumping more than once a day because it would just take ages for the parts to air dry...
Uses MAM bottles but "nearly burnt myself countless times" doing the microwave self-sterilising. The feature is "cool" but has a real safety/comfort downside.
