Genie Advanced from Pumpables > Spectra any day of the week. Stronger motor and so much smaller
Rates PGA above Spectra with specific reasons: stronger motor, much smaller. Direct comparison win.
I will say I had both the pumpables pump and the spectra and ended up using the pumpables pump as my primary. I found it was easier to do things with the twins while using that because I could wear it around my neck and I got more output than with the spectra after finding the right settings — which you can pre-record and be completely hands free. I even used it in the car. I used my spectra flanges for the pumpables pump and it worked amazing. I find the "wearable" flanges that are round to
Used PGA as PRIMARY over Spectra. More output after finding right settings. Pre-recorded settings for hands-free. Wore around neck with twins. Used in car.
If you're planning to get 2 pumps then I agree with keeping s1 as primary. But if you're looking for just one pump to be both effective and portable I'd highly recommend pumpables genie advanced! It's not a wearable but it's super portable and can be hacked into a semi wearable situation (kinda like the stride) if you use cups instead of traditional flanges - though not recommended to do before supply regulates I.e somewhere around 10-12 pp.
"Highly recommend" as single effective+portable pump. Can be hacked into semi-wearable with cups. Specific about timing (after 10-12 weeks pp).
I have a Spectra S1 and a Pumpables Genie and love them both. I got the Pumpables to take with me to work because it is so much smaller and can charge using a mini USB, but also has strong enough suction to be a primary pump. Always make sure to measure for correct flange size and change out duck bills regularly to keep suction consistent. If you're able to, work with a IBCLC to get your pump settings and everything correct.
"Love them both." PGA for work — much smaller, mini USB charging, strong enough as primary. Specific about maintenance.
I'm quite busty, which I think needs to be considered when making recommendations. I got the PGA intending to use it as my primary and with collection cups for portability. Love the pump and successfully used it as my primary for the last 10 weeks. However I tried it with the freemie and legendairy milk collection cups and had no luck. So I ordered the momcozy m5 and absolutely love it. I get the exact same output with it as with the PGA. Highly recommend. I've been using it significantly more n
"Love the pump." Used as primary for 10 weeks successfully. Busty user. Collection cups didn't work but pump itself is great. Eventually uses M5 more for convenience.
I found that a wearable for work was great in theory but didn't work well for reliability. I used pumpables genie advanced which is comparable to spectra s1/s2 but way more portable. It was fabulous, but not covered by insurance. Trying out the Baby Buddha this go around for similar reasons.
"Fabulous." Comparable to Spectra but way more portable. Chose reliability over wearable theory. Only downside: not covered by insurance.
I was too cheap to consider buying the Elvie Pump, but everyone I know who does cordless wearables swears by them. After being back at work for 2 months now, I'm considering purchasing because it's rough pumping at work with all the cords. Hard to reach my keyboard and flip through documents hooked up to traditional flanges. Out of all the pumps I've tried, my daily go to is the Pumpables Genie Advanced. I can clip the motor to my pants and walk around if needed. Karrie Locher on Instagram do
"Daily go to out of all pumps I've tried." Clips to pants for walking around. 2 months back at work experience. Specific about work ergonomics.
Spectra for home, pumpables genie for out and about. IMO, it had comparable suction to the plug-in pump. I even used it on a few trips and didn't get any clogs. It also comes with different connectors, so I didn't have to buy new flanges for it or anything, just used my spectra ones.
Comparable suction to Spectra plug-in. Used on trips without clogs. Compatible with Spectra flanges (no extra purchases). Practical travel pump.
1) are you planning to nurse also or exclusively pump? If you are nursing some you may be able to get away with a portable pump for a few sessions a day because you'd be nursing also. If you are exclusively pumping you'll definitely want a hospital grade. They are more efficient and will maintain your supply better. 2) I spent hours and hours reviewing pumps. I went with the Spectra (blue one) for main pump and then the Pumpables Genie Advanced for a portable, but used the spectra flanges prim
Chose PGA after hours of research as portable complement to Spectra. Uses Spectra flanges with it. Deliberate, researched choice.
I'll go first; Momcozy S12pro was pretty good when I bought my first set in March 2023, but quality seems to have plummeted with my second set bought in October 2023. I would no longer recommend them. Pumpables Genie Advanced is great and works with the Momcozy collection cups! Bonus. Love that it's programmable. The tubing is a bit annoying but it can be cut down to make it more manageable. Medela Freestyle Hands Free was all around garbage. The collection cups were great and so easy to clea
"Great and works with Momcozy collection cups." Programmable. Tubing slightly annoying but can be shortened. From a lactation consultant comparing many pumps.
I have the Spectra S1 plus and love it! It's the one that can run on battery power. I pump 7 times a day (30min sessions) and the battery only ever gets down to two bars. I charge it every night while I'm asleep. I have a couple of other pumps to use while doing things around the house or going out. First is the Elvie double electric and I don't really like it. Suction is weak, my output is terrible with it and it doesn't hold a charge for more than two 30min sessions. Second is the Pumpables Ge
Uses PGA as secondary for around the house/going out alongside Spectra S1. Detailed multi-pump comparison. PGA positive vs Elvie negative.
I find Elvie Stride too weak. I like a Medela cups with Pumpables Genie Advance.
Prefers PGA over Elvie Stride (too weak). Uses with Medela cups. Chose for strength.
