I've got the babysense monitor & the owlet. I like the babysense best. Clear picture, gives temperature readings, night light, can talk to my son through it & it plays music. It has a separate monitor that can show multiple cameras, great when I have another lo one day. The owlet is good but it's via a phone app which I don't like.
'Good but it's via a phone app which I don't like'; less preferred than Babysense; specific downside of app-only interface
I like the $20 Vtech that is audio only. I have an owlet, but the constant notifications gave me anxiety or it had connection issues.
'Constant notifications gave me anxiety or it had connection issues'; prefers $20 VTech over Owlet
I have the Nanit. Didn't buy it until maybe 3 months in because I had the owlet. (FTM nerves!) The owlet cost us a lot of lost sleep with false alarms from baby wiggles. Switched to the Nanit with breathing band and not a single false alarm, just peace of mind. I slept much better after. I know some moms find it unnecessary, I think you have to ask yourself your personality type to help make that decision.
'Cost us a lot of lost sleep with false alarms from baby wiggles'; switched away to Nanit which solved the false alarm problem
We have the Owlet and hate it. Audio cuts in and out horribly, it sends dozens of notifications even when the app is open. The camera is decent that's about all I can say that's good. Edit: the sock thing was interesting and eased a little of the newborn anxiety as it has pulse/ox but is a pain to keep on, disconnects, and you have to charge it for long periods making it only useful at night.
'Hate it'; specific: audio cuts in and out, dozens of notifications, sock disconnects, long charging; only positive is decent camera
The Nanit hands down. It's expensive and there's a subscription but it gives us a level of peace of mind that's worth it. Plus it just works, no frills. I can't say that about the Owlet. That thing was a piece of hot garbage.
'That thing was a piece of hot garbage'; direct ownership comparison showing Owlet failed where Nanit succeeded
Do not get an owlet. People will suggest it. Ignore it. We have one, I'd trade it for a new penny.
'Do not get an owlet'; 'I'd trade it for a new penny'; explicit warning to others; owns the product
Owlet is a fucking nightmare. Won't connect to a 5g network, so I had to toggle some nonsense with my ISP to get them to rebroadcast in 2.4ghz, then found out I'd need a dual channel router, and now it still gives mid video quality with a 10 second audio delay and 480p. My non computer savy in-laws are never permitted to buy tech ever again 🙄.
'Fucking nightmare'; specific problems: won't connect to 5GHz, requires router changes, still only 480p with 10 second audio delay
